Oko Progressive Union U.S.A.
A motion passed by 35 votes to zero in Chicago to remove benefit package from the constitution, and house it in the compendium of organization rules and bylaws.
DEATH BENEFIT
(Following the outline as it is established in the constitution)-- replace with -- (In reference to OPU-USA Constitution Article 9, and by attachment to Section 1, Welfare Program):
Section 2:
In case of death of a member in good financial standing, a contribution of one hundred and seventy-five dollars ($175.00) will be levied on each individual OPU-USA member as a support to take care of the deceased.
Sub-Section 2a: If a child of a member in good financial standing dies, a contribution of fifty dollars ($50) will be levied on each individual member of OPU-USA to help offset the burial cost.
Sub-Section 2b: The money levied can be paid either through the regional heads, or directly to OPU-USA Chief Coordinator.
Sub-Section 2c: This contribution is due immediately following the death tragedy. Every member is expected to pay his or her own levy no later than 30 days from the date of notification.
Section 3: FUNDS DISTRIBUTION
Specifically, funds raised as a result of the death of a member, will be solely used to convey the corpse from the United States to the deceased compound in Oko.
Sub-Section 3A: After the corpse made its way to Oko, any fund left over, will be given to the family of the deceased.
Sub-Section 3B: If the deceased’s family decides not to convey the corpse home, OPU-USA members will be levied one hundred dollars ($100.00) to cover the cost of burial. Then, whatever funds that is left over, will be handed over to the deceased’s family.
Sub-Section 3C: ROUND TICKET
To facilitate the safety of a corpse as it travels home, OPU-USA agrees to pay for one round trip ticket fare for any member accompanying the corpse home.
SECTION 4: PUBLICATION
In the case of an event as stipulated above, ALL the names of members who contributed MUST be published in the OPU-USA forum on-line as well as any other necessary OPU-USA publication so that a proper account would be kept regarding those who responded and those who did not respond at all.
